I was just part of a very exciting meeting. The national and regional conveners of the 9 contract monitoring coalitions in Africa met in Naivasha, Kenya. The meeting was an opportunity to share and learn from each other about the day-to-day opportunities and challenges that coalitions face in promoting contract monitoring in their countries.
It was a very honest and productive discussion. People shared their challenges, from mantaining an active membership base, resource mobilization, to getting access to contracts and capacity needs for effective monitoring. There will be a full report of this meeting. It will be ready in about two weeks and we will share it here. Each convener will also reach out to the relevant country groups with a debrief from this meeting and jointly decide with their members on potential next steps.
In the meantime, I invite any of the participants to share their impressions here. And, if there are any questions from others, please let us know!
